What You Will Do – Essential Functions

The Temporary Concurrent Review Clinician is responsible for completing continued stay requests, ensuring excellent customer service and member care. The role includes behavioral health clinical care coordination with the daily handling of incoming telephonic contact from our provider network, with the intent of making medical necessity determinations and ensuring appropriate discharge planning. This role will be expected to assess and refer a member to the next appropriate level of care, community services and/or outpatient support. The employee will also be able to demonstrate overall knowledge of various health plan requirements, including turnaround times and line of business specific authorization requirements. This position requires significant coordination with the Medical Directors, Clinical Operations leadership, case management teams, and quality and compliance teams with the intent of promoting effective, efficient care for Lucet members. The CCR Clinician is responsible for achieving SMART goals and ensuring strong member and provider care is delivered.

Clinical Review & Utilization Management

  • Perform clinical reviews across behavioral health care levels using medical necessity criteria.
  • Apply professional judgment in peer reviews and utilize tools for census and authorization management.

Member & Provider Engagement

  • Support members and providers by assessing needs, coordinating care, and planning discharges.
  • Facilitate access to appropriate services through collaboration and timely referrals

Documentation, Compliance & Professional Standards

  • Ensure compliance with clinical standards, health plan policies, and licensure requirements.
  • Maintain clinical knowledge and contribute to care coordination through clear, comprehensive documentation.

Who You Are

  • Required Qualifications
    • Has a current, unrestricted license issued by a state or territory of the United States to practice independently as a clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist, professional counselor, clinical psychologist, or registered nurse in the state in which the business operation is located and/or other states as required by law, regulation, or contract.
    • Minimum of two years of direct clinical care experience with patients in facility based and/or outpatient psychiatric or chemical dependency treatment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, strong computer and keyboarding skills including the ability to document while simultaneously taking information over the phone.
    • Ability to comprehend medical policy and criteria to clearly articulate health information
    • Ability to pass background check upon hire and throughout employment to include criminal felony & misdemeanor search, SSN validation/trace search (LEIE), education report (highest degree obtained), civil upper and lower search, 7-year employment report, federal criminal search, statewide criminal search, widescreen plus national criminal search, health care sanctions-state med (SAM), national sex offender registry, prohibited parties (OFAC) (terrorist watchlist), and a 9-Panel Drug Screen.

  • Working Conditions:
    • Work is performed indoors in a remote, home setting or typical office environment- not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
    • Frequent exposure to VDT screen.
    • Frequent use of office machines to include telephone, copier, computer, and fax machine.
    • Must be able to constantly remain in a stationary position, communicate and exchange information with others, inspect information, perform repetitive motions with arms and fingers, interpret data, problem solve, make decisions, organize, and plan, and maintain a positive and professional attitude in all situations.
