Job Summary and Qualifications

The Faculty Resource Specialist will be responsible for planning, implementing, and documenting an orientation program for new Galen faculty inclusive of general and instructional technology, general curriculum processes, academic policies and structure, and faculty mentorship.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with campus leadership for the requisition of faculty access and education materials.
  • Facilitate orientation to College approved instructional and communication tools.
  • Coordinate access and training for NCLEX® predictor programs.
  • Provide orientation to faculty and staff resources.
  • Facilitate training on College’s learning management system. Ensure faculty receive support for instructional and distance technology.
  • In collaboration with campus leadership, monitor and document progression through all assigned orientation activities.
  • Facilitate training on student information system.
  • Assist with accreditation efforts as needed: contributes to Institutional Effectiveness Plans (IEPs) and Systematic Plans of Evaluation(SPEs) as it relates to faculty orientation, mentoring, and development.
  • Introduce policies and procedures related to curriculum development, implementation, and revision.
  • Collaborate with academic leadership regarding the documentation of faculty performance within first 90 days.
  • Identify faculty needs through participation in faculty, committee, and leadership meetings.
  • Support training, placement, and ongoing evaluation of faculty mentor program.
  • Provide support for faculty to identify instructional resource needs to maintain expertise in their area of responsibility.
  • Provide orientation to academic policies and structure.
  • Create and maintain a positive environment in support of faculty.
  • Model and foster commitment to Galen values and culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Education: Minimum qualification of a master’s degree with a major in nursing is required; doctoral degree preferred. Knowledge that includes an understanding of the educational objectives and expectations of faculty, an understanding of diverse instructional technologies, understanding of nursing curriculum and accreditation, understanding of implementation of academic policies.
  • Unencumbered Licensure: Applicable state as a Registered Nurse (nursing only).
  • Special Qualifications: Experience facilitating courses in multiple teaching modalities, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, knowledge of and proficiency with a variety of technology tools used for course facilitation and ability to demonstrate skills with these tools. Must be highly organized with the ability to work in a team environment, multitask, and prioritize projects.
  • Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment: Position requires mental activity, reading, planning, preparing, evaluating, and decision making. Physical demands in classroom and office are minimal and considered sedentary work with occasional lifting and/or carrying such articles as records, files, and books (10 pounds maximum). Operation of standard office equipment such as phone, computer, classroom projector, Scantron, and printer/scanner, occurs on a frequent basis.
  • Degree of Supervision: Minimal.
