Title: Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP) Reviewer

Purpose: The MIHP Reviewer is a specialist position that conducts comprehensive certification reviews of Maternal Infant Health Program (MHP) provider agencies virtually, in-person and/or in a hybrid format. The MIHP Reviewer conducts reviews to ensure compliance and fidelity to the MIHP evidence-based home visiting program. The MIHP Reviewer serves as a representative of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

   

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of MIHP provider agencies virtually, in-person and/or in a hybrid format.
  • Conduct interviews with MIHP agency provider teams to assess understanding of and adherence to Medicaid policy and MIHP requirements.
  • Review beneficiary charts, agency billing charts and other MIHP agency site documentation related to the provision of services for beneficiaries, as determined by the MDHHS.
  • Complete MIHP agency reviews with a comprehensive lens of diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Adhere to all MDHHS confidentiality policies when reviewing beneficiary charts, billing and administrative documents.
  • Adhere to remote work requirements including the establishment of a private, secure workspace for conducting agency reviews.
  • Prepare and submit required reviews and reports for the MIHP and report issues to the MIHP Quality Improvement Specialist and MDHHS Maternal Infant Health Unit (MIHU) Manager.
  • Collaborate and consult with MDHHS MIHP team members and agencies statewide.
  • Present information and provide technical assistance, operational guidance, and consultation for the MIHP when necessary.
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts aimed at improving the internal processes of the MDHHS MIHP and of services rendered by MIHP agencies statewide.
  • Participate in meetings or trainings required by MDHHS.
  • Represent the department at external work groups and meetings.
  • May represent the unit, section and division on internal committees and work groups.
  • Always represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Master’s degree in social work, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing; master’s degree preferred. Current license as a social worker or registered nurse in the state of Michigan.

Experience: A minimum of three years of experience working directly with a Maternal Infant Health Program or another evidence-based home visiting program. At least three years of professional experience in maternal and child health.

Important Skills and Characteristics:

   

  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of and ability to relate social determinants of health to program and service practice.
  • Knowledge of maternal and infant health initiatives and/or programming.
  • Knowledge of the scope, objectives, functions, and principles of maternal and child health.
  • Proficient in maintaining records, preparing reports and correspondence related to the work.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, etc.) and Excel proficient, preferred.
  • Able to effectively communicate with others both written and verbally.
  • Ability to maintain favorable public relations.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Remote work and occasional in-office setting. Requires occasional travel across the state. Minimal physical demand. Requires some transporting and transferring of materials to meeting locations, such as displays or box of literature.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: No assigned responsibility.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position is vital in assisting with the compliance and quality efforts of the Maternal Infant Health Program providers across the state.
