Description


Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Director of Cancer Institute Clinical Research, the Clinical Research Education Specialist designs, plans and manages employee onboarding, education projects and formal training programs. The Clinical Research Education Specialist is responsible for the oversight of all Clinical Research education activities, as assigned. Follows established policies, procedures, professional guidelines, adult learning principles, and evidence-based practice to align education goals with business needs and identified strategies of Cancer Institute. Designs learning, delivers training, and facilitates organizational change. Measures and evaluates impact of education, and contributes to the improvement of performance, as measured by objective outcomes. Participates in management of the learning function, staff coaching, career planning, talent management, and managing organizational knowledge. Leads programs or workgroups and provides internal organizational development consulting. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital. Performs other duties as assigned.

Duties may include Develops a competency – and outcomes – based educational model. Participates in new hire selection process. Participates in orientee assessments and completion of Competency Based tools. Evaluates and revises educational programs; recommends changes in the education process based on evaluative findings and accreditation/regulatory standards. Conducts assessment of educational needs; identifies priorities and plans accordingly. Serves as subject matter expert as needed to represent the department. Provides consultation to faculty, staff, and affiliate investigators and research staff on the application and implementation of the federal regulations, state laws, and institutional policies for human subject research. Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates currently existing education programs and develops a continuous comprehensive education program for research staff as well as investigators and their research teams. This includes but is not limited to on- boarding of new staff and providing monthly educational presentations to the research team. Assesses and analyzes the learning needs of the various populations and recommends new educational modules to improve the existing education program and to further meet the needs of the research community. Identifies and coordinates community outreach initiatives. Works as a liaison with our affiliates to develop programs that meet the need of their research community. Develops measures to assess on an ongoing basis, actively participates and encourages through education and training a front-line example of customer service and satisfaction and participates in any and all customer service initiatives that are appropriate. Oversight is limited to those activities that do not require a license to perform.

Qualifications


Required Skills:

Masters Degree in Education or Nursing (MSN) or equivalent field and three years of related experience in the field of Clinical Research is required. Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida is preferred. National Certification in Clinical Research required within one year of employment. Ability to read, write and speak English clearly and distinctly. Excellent verbal, written and listening skills. Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving capability. Commitment to quality customer service. Well-developed knowledge of education planning processes, various communication methods/new media, program development and evaluation. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
