VNH is looking for an innovative and creative clinical educator to develop, implement and grow the regional nurse residency program offered to the New Hampshire Alliance for Home Health, Hospice and Palliative Care member organizations. The Program Manager is responsible for curriculum development, program implementation and evaluation of the virtual program components of a hub and spoke model with member organizations. The Program Manager fosters the clinical and professional development of the residents and supports each resident through completion of the program. This full-time position is 100% remote.

Visiting Nurse and Hospice for VT & NH Nurse Residency program is a year-long transition to practice program that serves as a bridge to support and enhance the professional development of new graduate nurses entering home care practice. The purpose of the program is to promote the development of competency and role transition, supporting the resident professionally, emotionally, and socially during the first year of nursing practice. The evidence-based program prepares and supports advanced beginner nurses with the resources, skills, and tools to become confident professional nurses.

The Nurse Residency Program Manager:

  • Develops, implements and evaluates a hub and spoke clinical education program for new graduate nurses transitioning to professional practice in home-based care, the program includes preceptor training.
  • Develops education curricula specific to home health nursing including case management principles, OASIS documentation, quality measures, and value-based purchasing.
  • Identifies current and emerging education trends, including evidence-based strategies for adult learning; applies knowledge to program design and evaluation.
  • Coordinates programmatic needs assessment and oversees development, design, implementation and evaluation of evidence based educational materials utilizing principles of instructional design for adult learners.
  • Collaborates with and provides support to member organization clinical educators.
  • Collaborates with NH Alliance staff to develop descriptive marketing materials.
  • Serves as an ambassador to academic institutions to promote the program with graduating nurses.
  • Serves as an academic liaison with academic institutions and professional organizations to collaborate and support learning opportunities.
  • Engages in quality improvement efforts to ensure professional competence and learning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters of Education or Masters of Science in Nursing Education from an accredited university required; nursing degree required.
  • Three (3) years of experience in Medicare certified home health care required.
  • Three (3) years of experience in health care education and residency programs preferred.
  • Has command of the principles of adult learning and demonstrates ability to use these in developing education plans.
  • Registered nurse license (or compact) in the states of Vermont and New Hampshire required.
