The CIN Quality Manager provides leadership, facilitation, coordination and education for performance improvement activities in assigned groups within Virginia Children’s Care Network, a wholly-owned subsidiary of VCU Health System (VCUHS). This job manages quality program development and execution, Quality Improvement Committee, quality dashboards/scorecards, and routine reports to the Virginia Children’s Care Network Board of Managers. Identifies performance improvement opportunities, works with leaders and clinically integrated network (CIN) participants to prioritize the opportunities, initiates teams/projects, and directs teams in monitoring data to evaluate success of interventions. This role uses the science of improvement, including statistical tools and methods. 
 

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Current license in the Commonwealth of Virginia (e.g. Registered Nurse, Pharmacist, Nurse Practitioner, Registered Dietitian or similar) if candidate holds a professional license Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality preferred Certified Project Manager preferred. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia is required if incumbent holds a professional license Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in the healthcare environment. Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in quality improvement/ quality management, with specific experience that includes: Experience applying the science of improvement/performance improvement methods/tools; Managing people, teams, and or/projects Previous experience using a personal computer and software applications to include the Internet, e-mail, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and graphics Expert level knowledge of NCQA, HEDIS, Medicaid and Medicare Experience PREFERRED: Experience with organization-wide performance improvement in a large academic medical center with a wide variety of specialty services OR experience managing a quality program for a clinically integrated network. Experience managing quality projects in ambulatory clinic settings Experience managing participation in national quality measures, value-based reimbursement or pay for performance programs. Experience building coalitions and consensus, experience negotiating with physicians and administrators Experience collecting or analyzing clinical data/quality metrics (e.g., core measures, e-clinical quality measures, pay for performance metrics, ambulatory efficiency metrics, etc.) Experience facilitating formal quality improvement committees or councils. Experience with performance improvement activities in a pediatric setting Education/training REQUIRED: Master’s Degree in healthcare field (e.g. MSHA, MPH, MSN, MHA), Quality Engineering, Business Administration, or related field Education/training PREFERRED: Clinical knowledge and experience (nurse, therapist, pharmacy, or similar), preferably in the pediatric setting Supplemental course work in quality improvement, such as quality methodologies/tools, data analysis, patient safety, Lean, Six Sigma, quality engineering and/or project management Course work in statistics Independent action(s) required: Is able to: Think independently, organize, plan and make decisions. Facilitate groups and teams effectively and promote Virginia Children’s Care Network performance improvement processes, utilizing proven PI tools and methods. Design and complete data analysis methodology accurately. Consistently function as a role model and maintain positive interactions with all customers, colleagues, supervisors and team members. Verbalize knowledge of local, federal and state laws and regulations as well as TJC standards related to their position’s chief objective. Interpret data, standards and regulations. Demonstrate aptitude for compliance with VCUHS and Virginia Children’s Care Network policies, procedures, and customer service philosophy Actively engage in professional activities. Manage people and tasks. Negotiate effectively. Provide effective, high-quality written documents. Problem solves using critical thinking and decision making skills. Create project timelines, identify milestones and track project progress. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): Supervises Virginia Children’s Care Network performance improvement staff and quality/data analyst(s). Additional position requirements: Some after hours and weekend work and flex scheduling will be required to meet deadlines and serve internal and external customers effectively.
