Red Oak Recovery (Asheville, NC) is a clinician-run treatment program with three campuses established to serve the needs of our clients. Our Red Oak campus offers a unique blend of clinical rehabilitation, 12 step addiction recovery, proven addiction therapy services, family counseling, and experiential and adventure therapy. The Willows at Red Oak offers a sanctuary for young women to focus on healing and help prepare them for fulfilling, post-treatment lives. Foothills at Red Oak, our adolescent treatment program for boys, treats trauma, mental health issues, substance abuse, grief and loss, and process addictions.

We are hiring a Utilization Review Coordinator to work with medical professionals, payors, and healthcare providers to ensure each patient has access to the appropriate level of care and length of stay to provide them with the best chance at recovery. The successful candidate will hold a current ALC, LPC, LMFT, LMSW or LCSW license. Two years of experience in utilization review and the ability to comprehend medical information and policy is preferred. Along with excellent verbal and written communication skills, each candidate should possess strong computer skills to accurately document patient health information and supporting treatment notes.


Responsibilities:

  • Performing pre-admission certification reviews, continued stay reviews, appeals, denials, and/or reconsiderations and provide information to the appropriate review agency or insurance company
  • Maintaining accurate patient notes and complete appropriate documentation to the patient’s electronic health record
  • Providing follow-up and support calls to providers and insurance carriers
  • Reviewing and maintaining correspondence pertaining to certification, appeals, denials or reconsiderations
  • Educating counseling staff regarding data needed to adequately document patient care and educate crisis staff regarding data needed to adequately document intake assessments and managed care criteria
  • Working collaboratively with co-workers, managers, clients, and prospective clients
  • Completing of assigned tasks given Utilization Review Manager
  • Assisting Utilization Review Manager with UR Department needs
