The nurse responsibly and cost effectively manages equipment, supplies, and ancillary services. The nurse establishes communication and maintains good working relationships with physicians and office personnel to facilitate quality patient care.


Job Description

The Triage Registered Nurse at OB/GYN Medical Center Associates is responsible for providing critical patient care and support in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. This role demands unwavering professionalism, exceptional clinical skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

The incumbent will be entrusted with the following essential duties:

  • Patient Reception and Preparation: Professionally greet and escort patients to examination rooms, ensuring their comfort while maintaining a clinical atmosphere. Meticulously prepare patients for examinations, including obtaining urine specimens, assessing vital signs, and documenting symptoms, complaints, and medications with precision.
  • Clinical Support: Provide crucial assistance to physicians, residents, and fellows during examinations and procedures. Administer injections and medications as prescribed, demonstrating expertise in proper techniques and patient education.
  • Emergency Response: Demonstrate acute awareness in recognizing urgent or emergency situations, initiating appropriate protocols, and coordinating swift transfer to hospital care when necessary. Maintain comprehensive documentation of all emergency events in patients’ medical records.
  • Patient Education: Deliver thorough and clear education to patients on a wide range of health care concerns, including but not limited to office and hospital procedures, birth control methods, prenatal and postpartum care, gynecological issues, infertility treatments, and surgical processes.
  • Clinical Procedures: Perform Non-Stress Tests (NSTs) and ultrasound scans in strict adherence to established protocols. Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation, including charges and diagnoses on chart forms.
  • Infection Control and Safety: Rigorously maintain infection control practices, including proper disposal of contaminated materials, adherence to hand hygiene protocols, and thorough disinfection of patient areas. Uphold a safe environment for all patients and staff members.
  • Patient Flow Management: Oversee appointment scheduling with a focus on prioritizing emergency cases while maintaining overall clinic efficiency. Ensure timely patient flow throughout the facility.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Foster and maintain effective working relationships with all team members and co-workers, contributing to a cohesive and professional healthcare environment.
  • Confidentiality and Compliance: Uphold the highest standards of patient confidentiality and adhere strictly to all relevant healthcare regulations and organizational policies.

The Triage Registered Nurse must approach these responsibilities with the utmost seriousness and dedication, recognizing the critical impact of their role on patient outcomes and the overall function of the OB/GYN Medical Center Associates.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year professional nursing experience in a clinical setting; OB/GYN experience strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of: Professional nursing theory and evidence-based practice for patient care delivery and evaluation
  • Organizational policies, regulations, and procedures for administering patient care Medical equipment and instruments essential for delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Common safety hazards and precautions necessary to establish and maintain a secure work environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in: Applying and adapting principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide continuous, high-quality patient care, identifying complex problems and recommending effective solutions.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate medical records, composing detailed reports, and responding to correspondence professionally.
  • Developing and maintaining rigorous department quality assurance standards
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public
  • Critical abilities include: Maintaining stringent quality control standards, responding calmly and effectively in high-pressure and emergency situations. Also, interpreting, adapting, and applying guidelines and procedures with precision.
  • Communicating clearly and effectively in both verbal and written forms.

Education, Certification, and Licensure Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred)
  • Current, valid Texas Board of Nurse Examiners Registered Nurse license (mandatory)
  • Current CPR certification.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the full range of body motion, including patient handling and lifting. Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination are essential. The role demands standing and walking for extended periods. Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds is necessary. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range are required. The ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours is crucial for this position.

Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $28 to $34 per hour. Exact compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s education, relevant experience, and location.
