Overview
PocketRN is the first telehealth startup built specifically for nurses, with a mission to close the gap between home and healthcare by enabling patients to meet virtually with specialized nurses. PocketRN recognizes that nurses are the backbone of healthcare delivery, and we are dedicated to empowering nurses with the option of working flexibly from home while providing expert, quality, and convenient care to patients and caregivers.
We are looking for Registered Nurses to join our team of virtual nurses with Multistate/Compact Licensure PLUS a license in California, Illinois, and/or the District of Columbia.
Roles and Responsibilities
- The virtual nurse will work closely with patients, caregivers, care coordinators, the PocketRN team, and our partners to ensure continuity of care and facilitate cross-functional communication. The virtual nurse will play a vital role in providing high-quality healthcare services to patients virtually. Their roles and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Leverage clinical decision-making and critical thinking skills to promote health and wellness across multiple partners and patient settings.
- Utilize nursing expertise to assess, triage, and provide patient care through telehealth and virtual platforms.
- Use the nursing process to assess and evaluate patient needs through comprehensive health assessments and clinical touch points.
- Quickly build rapport with patients, family and professional caregivers, care coordinators, PocketRN staff and our partners virtually in a respectful and professional manner to ensure excellent experiences and outcomes.
- Provide clear and frequent communication with patients, family and professional caregivers, care coordinators, PocketRN staff and our partners.
- Provide education and be a clinical resource to family and professional caregivers
- Follow escalation protocols when urgent scenarios occur during calls and communicate to relevant parties in a timely manner.
- Identify and communicate any concerning findings to the care coordinators and relevant parties to allow for timely follow-up.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient data, health history, and current treatment and medications using designated software.
- Maintain patient privacy and strictly adhere to HIPAA compliance standards in a virtual care environment.
- Maintain an active and unencumbered nursing license in the state(s) where care is delivered.
- Help support operational planning and logistics of partnerships as needed and be willing to learn multiple partnerships and tailor workflows to the needs of the partner.
Requirements:
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of direct patient care required. Experience in geriatrics, dementia, and/or memory care highly preferred.
- Licensure: Must have a current valid Multistate Compact RN license and a license in either the state of California, Illinois or the District of Columbia.
- Communication: Able to demonstrate effective interpersonal, oral, written, and listening communication skills.
- Language: Able to communicate effectively, in English, over the phone, video conferencing, and in writing. To be successful in a virtual environment, must be proficient in asynchronous communication
- Professionalism: Provides courteous, empathetic, and clear communication to patients even in stressful scenarios. A desire to go above and beyond for patients. Patient-Centered: Demonstrates patient-centered/patient-valued behaviors. Focuses on patient needs, patient rights, confidentiality, and religious and cultural preferences.
- Self-Motivated: Must be able to work effectively in a remote environment by taking initiative, go above and beyond to delight patients, be actively involved in process improvement, and be reliably available during determined shifts.
- Adaptable: Able to learn new systems and workflows quickly and speedily adapt nursing in the virtual care start-up environment.
- Mission and team-driven: Excited about working with a supportive, compassionate, and collaborative team by using innovative technology to create a lasting impact for millions of patients, caregivers, and nurses. Must be flexible, detailed, team a committed to doing an outstanding job.
- Technical Requirements: This position requires proficiency with Google of products (Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Slides, etc.) and ability to independently navigate technology. You will need a quiet, private room in your home for taking HIPAA sensitive video calls. You’ll need a fast (at least 50 Mbps required) and stable internet connection.
