Job Description
Position Overview:
The Clinical Applications Specialist utilizes knowledge of the electronic medical record (EMR) and other clinical programs to collaborate with clinical leadership on using these systems to provide excellent patient care at CHCWM.
- This full-time position is remote and will be supporting multiple CHC locations across Michigan. Candidate must reside in MI and needs to be within a proximity of one of these locations: Big Rapids, Garden City, Grand Rapids, Holland, Lansing, Muskegon, and Roseville. This role must be able to sit or travel to any of locations upon the needs of the department. The days/hours to work are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.*
Education
Desired/Required Qualifications:
- Required: a bachelor’s degree in nursing and/or computer related field. Preferred: Licensed RN or Certified Pharmacy Technician in the state of Michigan
Specific Skills & Abilities
- Required to successfully complete orientation program
- 2-5 years of experience of managing and supporting an EMR and/or other health related programs
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- The Clinical Applications Specialist works under the Senior Director of Operations as part of the clinical team to maintain and support the EMR and other clinical applications.
- Provides direction and support to the clinical team on utilization of the EMR and clinical applications to optimize workflows for providing patient care.
- Creates and facilitates department super user training that aligns with current workflows, procedures, and policies.
- Sits alongside new physicians and advance practice providers to walk through documentation, ordering, and billing with real-time examples.
- Monitors the use of the EMR and other clinical applications for existing and new workflows.
- Travel as needed to sites to train, monitor, and support clinic workflow.
- Will be the subject matter expert for the EMR, electronic reported outcomes, patient call system, group management program, referral systems, patient portal, appointment reminder system, and any new application that is implemented.
- Investigates new features or programs to optimize clinic workflows to ensure excellent patient care.
- Collaborates with the clinical team and leadership by identifying problems and providing solutions through the EMR and clinical applications.
- Learns about and trains new functionalities within the EMR and other clinical applications.
- Assists with ongoing quality improvement initiatives to provide efficient, cost-effective, high-quality care.
- Identify, analyze, resolve, and document end user problems in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintain inside and outside user satisfaction in service delivery.
- Assist with IT support as needed including daily urgent and non-urgent requests for EMR access and function issues from staff and provider users.
- Engages in continuous education and training to maintain skills, knowledge, and competency to complete functions of role.
- All other duties as assigned.
