About the Role:

Join MED-EL’s mission to bring the joy of sound to life! We’re looking for an enthusiastic clinical educator to lead the charge in crafting and delivering engaging training experiences for both staff and surgeons—all centered around our innovative bone conduction systems. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, deliver and assess world-class clinical education programs for MED-EL staff and customer groups related to bone conduction systems, ensuring that all training content meets best in practice US regulatory and product labeling requirements.
    • Collaborate with other Education Department team members to: identify and analyze training needs; grow and maintain a comprehensive staff training curriculum adhering to department format and delivery guidelines; select appropriate delivery methods for staff and customer training initiatives; and update and maintain content used to assess staff competence and ensure that proficiency requirements are met with respect to clinical and product knowledge.
    • Leads development and presentation of surgical training on individual and/or group basis, as needed, for surgical and non-surgical employees at the appropriate level.
    • Assess trainee competencies and recommend additional or remedial training as needed.
    • Update training programs and materials as needed.
    • Mentor new surgical staff throughout the onboarding process.
    • Provide surgical support expertise, technical assistance, guidance or support to groups or individuals within the company who are tasked with delivering training in their area of responsibility.
  • Develop, promote and implement surgeon training programs for surgeons.
    • Collaborate with regional and Innsbruck teams to ensure quality of surgical support and training activities in the field.
    • Identify surgeon training needs with particular emphasis on new product launches. Develop course content and delivery plan.
    • Create and develop support materials for surgeons, in coordination with other departments and/or IBK as needed.
    • Liaise with key opinion leaders and Surgical Advisory Board to ensure MED-EL surgical training and support offerings meet the needs of customers.
    • Liaise with teammates, other staff and departments within the company (e.g. Product Management), and experts in the field both domestic and international, to develop the technical knowledge necessary to effectively deliver training on new and existing topics. Expected travel for this position is 75%.
  • Provide input to Supervisor on planning and budget needs for surgical training programs or equipment.
  • Assist Team with educational activities, workshops or other tasks surrounding onboarding, product launches, special projects or other assignments.
  • Assist other MED-EL team members in achieving company goals.
  • Regular training of surgical team including developing or coordinating content and the supporting presentations, scripts, and documents to effectively deliver it either face-to-face or via virtual formats utilizing appropriate software and tools.
  • Onboarding of new surgical account managers, including training on the most up-to-date tools, methodologies and technology available with periodic assessments of knowledge, skills and abilities including, but not limited to, written or oral assignments, and observation in the surgical environment.
  • Attend surgeries that need support throughout the US as needs require, as approved by Supervisor.
  • Travel to participate in conferences, advisory boards, organize workshops, meet customers and present on behalf of MED-EL.
  • If based off-site, travel to MED-EL US office every two months at a minimum and more frequently, if necessary, to collaborate within the company or prepare for events.

Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in health sciences or similar area of study. Commensurate experience in health sciences, healthcare, medicine/nursing, medical devices, communication disorders, and/or corporate learning and development desired.
  • Master’s Degree or higher in Audiology preferred.
  • Previous experience in content development and training delivery methodologies preferred.
  • Positive attitude, strong communication skills, the ability to work as a team and collaborate across departments.
  • Surgical support background is required, expertise in hearing and/or hearing implants preferred.
  • Experience in training program development and training healthcare providers is highly desirable.
  • Up-to-date company product knowledge about previous, existing and emerging products preferred.
  • Professional presentation skills and excellent writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Computer skills desired include, but are not limited to, Microsoft Office, online training delivery systems, video/audio recording and rendering for on-demand training modules.
  • This position requires understanding of the various philosophies and approaches to clinical/medical service provision, regulatory requirements, and liabilities to develop effective relationships with customers and clinical staff.
  • Virtual training requires as-needed access to an appropriate quiet, professional environment from which to conduct training sessions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to ‘think outside the box’ offering ideas or suggestions with confidence.

Pay Transparency:
In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency and equity, the salary range for this role is $90,000.00–$110,000.00 annually. Final compensation will be based on location, skills, experience, and internal equity considerations.
