Under general supervision of an advanced practice provider (APP) and Occupational Medicine medical director, the occupational health nurse delivers nursing care to TGH clients’ employees. The nurse provides occupational health services, nursing assessments and care for patients and to meet client needs. This includes assisting the client in meeting Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements that may include health screenings, audiograms, respiratory clearance including spirometry and respirator fit testing. Provides on-site first aid and remote triage in the event of a work-related injury, treats minor injuries and illnesses, coordinates vaccine clinics, administers vaccines and maintains medical records through electronic medical records software. Provides general health information and education as appropriate. Attends meetings to train and educate employees. The role resides in a corporate, ambulatory clinic, or industrial setting. Involves rotating at TGH clients’ clinic locations. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital and principles of quality improvement.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, BSN • Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida. • COHN or COHN-S (Certificated Occupational Health Nurse) preferred, may consider 2 years of occupational health, emergency department or relevant experience. • Phlebotomy skills and experience • Ideal candidate may also have NIOSH approved spirometry certification and Occupational Hearing Conservationist by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) **Spanish Speaking Preferred |
