Description
The Temporary Chart Abstractor will play a crucial role in supporting Accountable Care Organization (ACO) quality reporting by reviewing and abstracting clinical data from electronic health records (EHRs). This position is project-based, focused on meeting quality reporting deadlines and supporting the organization’s value-based care initiatives, including CMS Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) reporting.
- Duration: Temporary position until project completion (anticipated March)
- Work Environment: Hybrid – primarily remote with up to 25% local travel required. Preferably based in Macon, GA
- Schedule: Full time hours through completion of project
What You’ll Do
- Data Abstraction
- Review and extract patient information from EHRs for ACO quality measures such as annual wellness visits, preventive screenings, and chronic condition management.
- Accurately record abstracted data into designated reporting systems
- EHR Navigation and Documentation
- Efficiently navigate multiple EHR systems to locate and extract relevant clinical information.
- Maintain meticulous documentation and ensure compliance with data integrity standards.
- Coordination and Communication
- Collaborate with market teams and provider staff.
- Participate in check-ins or team meetings to report progress and address challenges.
- Data Validation
- Ensure all abstracted data is accurate, complete, and in compliance with ACO quality measure requirements.
Qualifications
- Associates degree in related field or equivalent experience
- LPN/LVN or CMA highly preferred
- 4+ years of nursing, medical assisting, medical coding or related healthcare field required.
- Previous experience in chart abstraction, quality reporting such as, CMS Web Interface reporting, HEDIS, or other NCQA reporting
- Familiarity with ACO quality measures (e.g., MSSP, HEDIS) is a strong plus.
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and interpret clinical data.
- Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet project deadlines.
- Basic understanding of value-based care and healthcare quality initiatives preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, project-oriented environment
- Bilingual – fluent in Spanish preferred
Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions
- This is a US-based hybrid position that will require up to 25% travel in Georgia.
- The compensation target pay range for this role is: $20.00-25.00 per hour. The salary range represents our national target range for this role.
