Description

MPF Federal is seeking a remote Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) – Patient Safety Specialist to research/investigate assigned cases for our nations Veterans. The ideal RN will possess both strong Behavioral Health and Med Surge experience.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Assigned cases to research/investigate with expected timeline to complete each case; provided a template to complete for each case, with expected information and actions that are required for each case.
  • Include all quality and delivery requirements, including any certifications that may be required.
  • Audits will be completed with an expected accuracy of 90% or greater.
  • Will complete the assigned cases within the expected time frame.
  • Cases will be audited for completeness (all process steps completed), accuracy of work (appropriate findings/analysis), quality of work (well written, grammatically correct, minimal errors), and timeliness of work (each step completed in the expected time period).
  • Receive PQI (potential quality issues) from veterans, VA, internally, claims
  • Leads review PQI and triage and assigned to PSS
  • Perform background research on PQI – where the care was rendered, background on veteran, request medical records (could be multiple) via database.
  • As medical records come in, they review records for quality issue received and determine if a PQI actually occurred.
  • Review records and write a case summary
  • Perform evidence-based research to determine if care was within standards
  • Cases to be sent to medical director to confirm PQI concern
  • If there is a quality of care that did occur – that information is sent to provider for additional information; Peer review committee; Corrective Action plan
  • Work the entire process; quick close cases
  • Writing of case summaries

Requirements

Requirements

  • Broad background in nursing
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Clinical quality experience is a plus
  • Must be US Citizen and ability to obtain a clearance

Required

  • Registered Nurse with current, active license in state of residence
  • 2 years of Behavioral Health and Med Surge experience a must
  • 2 years clinical experience essential

Preferred

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing
  • Experience with chart/records review;
  • Experience with clinical quality, quality improvement, and/or risk management;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills;
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office; word, pdf, excel, adobe pro and homegrown databases
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; and
  • Detail oriented and highly organized with effective time management skills.
