The College of Nursing Clinical Coordinator supports the clinical educational experiences in the online graduate and doctoral nursing programs. The Clinical Coordinator works in collaboration with the University Director of Clinical Education and Executive Program Director to ensure programmatic clinical objectives are met in the online programs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the CON clinical team, Program Committee and CON leadership to ensure that programmatic clinical outcomes are met.
- Assist with approvals of student rotations within clinical and preceptorship settings that span the U.S. and meet on-going needs of the program.
- Contribute to the continuous quality improvement process in regard to student rotations within clinical and preceptorship experiences.
- Conduct periodic on-site evaluations of clinical sites and preceptors to insure instructional quality is maintained and clinical objectives are met as needed.
- Ensure that clinical and preceptor experiences meet the requirements of applicable local, state, and national professional and accrediting bodies.
- Assist in preparing accreditation reports pertaining to clinical experiences of students as required.
- Contribute to the implementation of methodologies to evaluate program and course curriculum as they relate to clinical and preceptorship experiences.
- Oversee student clinical competency assessment activities.
- Assist with oversight and approval of student and institutional files, including information on liability insurance, clinical affiliation agreements, preceptorship agreements, health records, and background checks.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of an effective electronic student documentation system that meets the needs of the nursing curriculum, professional discipline, state and programmatic accrediting/certifying bodies.
- Work in collaboration with the University Clinical Director to plan and implement methodologies to evaluate student performance in clinical rotations and preceptorship experiences.
- Facilitate day-to-day management and administration of clinical academic operations in collaboration with the University Director of Clinical Education.
- Maintain the highest moral and ethical standards as an educator and nursing professional in all decision-making.
- Maintain currency of State Board of Nursing regulations/requirements as they relate to nursing education programs
- Assists with oversight of the clinical skills lab and immersion weekend experience for FNP students. This requires travel to Colorado approximately once every 5 weeks (as applicable).
- Analyze clinical/practicum data to recommend and execute changes needed to ensure program quality and address student success and retention concerns both programmatic and course specific.
- Collaborates with the University Director of Clinical Education with leading the clinical curriculum, ensuring quality and content in meeting program/clinical outcomes.
- Implement clinical curriculum specific training for faculty, students and preceptors as required by accrediting bodies.
- Participates in regular meetings and engages in coordination efforts with the University Director of Clinical Education, University Dean, Executive Program Director and Leads to ensure faculty standards are being met, faculty feedback is being considered, and appropriate retention efforts are being made.
- Collaborates with internal and external legal departments to execute affiliation agreements for student practicum experiences.
- Supports all retention and completion initiatives.
- Understands the mission, vision, goals and academic standards policies of the University and College of Nursing and espouses them in the performance of duties.
- Demonstrates a commitment to thought leadership in the nursing profession.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, integrity and ethical standards.
- Participate in University and College Committees as assigned
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Participates in special academic related projects as necessary

- Occasional overnight travel required.
- This is a remote position.
- Position requires normal business hours of 8am-5pm (CST).

Qualifications – External
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, Competencies
- Experience contracting clinical sites and planning preceptorship experiences across a wide geographic domain.
- Ability to read, interpret, and implement accreditation criteria and state agency regulations.
- Ability to resolve inquiries and complaints from students, faculty, preceptors, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the academic or business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to students, faculty, academic leaders, corporate leaders, and public groups.
- Experience with computerized learning management and education administrative systems.
- Proficient with the use of standard business productivity, computer data base management, and Internet applications on personal computers.
- Other requirements specific to the discipline.
Education and Experience: Minimum
- MSN with active, unencumbered RN license
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an online learning environment.
- Minimum 1 years’ experience in leading online clinical placement.
- Minimum of 5 years nursing experience
- Active, clear and unencumbered RN license in the United States
- Specialty certification (as applicable)
Preferred
- Terminal degree in Nursing or related field (DNP, DNSc, or PhD in Nursing)
- Board certified as Family Nurse Practitioner
- Minimum of 5 years of nurse practitioner practice experience required
- Valid, active unencumbered Family Nurse Practitioner license
- Minimum of ten years of nursing experience preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in leading online nurse practitioner clinical placements.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience college/university academic leadership experience preferred.

Compensation: $65,000-$75,000 Annually
