Job Description

The Clinical Informatics Analyst will actively participate in the planning, development, implementation, education, and training of the chosen clinical systems which directly impact patient care. The analyst will identify and analyze clinical practice and processes and recommend modifications or solutions to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of clinical care. The analyst will participate in the evaluation and maintenance of clinical systems and provide a consistent presence on patient care units to support clinical transformation and assist staff in maximizing the use of information technology. The analyst will commit to the position and allow for flexibility in schedule to meet the needs of the team.

Minimum Qualifications:

   

  • Graduate from an accredited clinical program required (e.g., RN, RT, PT, OT, SLP).
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience as well as a thorough understanding of clinical processes and practices.
  • Currently licensed as a clinician (e.g., RN, RT, PT, OT, SLP) in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license in a recognized compact state if not a permanent resident of SC.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a basic knowledge of computer skills, email, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • To perform the job successfully, the individual should demonstrate and apply a high level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and critical thinking to the following key areas: clinical practice, collaboration/teamwork, leadership and professional development, and process improvement/systems thinking.
  • Must know electronic health records.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

   

  • Assist in supporting the deployment of clinical information systems for all clients; Provide “at the elbow” technical support.
  • Participate in the development of clinical information systems content and design
  • Researching and evaluating best practice standards.
  • Participate in the testing, evaluation, and maintenance of clinical systems; Provide feedback regularly.
  • Provide a consistent presence where care is provided to support clinical transformation and assist staff in maximizing the use of information technology.
  • Facilitate communication and foster collaborative relationships with clinical and non-clinical users that interface with clinical systems.
  • Demonstrate and maintain proficient use of currently installed information systems.
  • Prioritize and respond to the support needs of clients; articulate the plan to address client needs and complete follow-up and evaluation.
  • Recommend modifications/solutions to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of clinical care and workflow
  • Participate in ongoing refinement of systems.
  • Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required.

Work Demands/Environment

   

  • Frequent sitting.
  • Frequently requires long periods of working at a computer.
  • Intermittent walking, standing, stooping, bending.
  • May require lifting or moving items up to 25 lbs., occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity.
  • Constant talking or hearing.
  • Corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • No exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue.
  • Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment.
  • Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, and/or irregular hours.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
