Nurse Cohort Manager

Role Overview

The Nurse Cohort Manager plays a critical leadership role in building, scaling, and sustaining a high-performing team of virtual nurses. This role is ultimately responsible for patient care quality, nurse performance, time and attendance oversight, and the reinforcement of PocketRN’s culture, values, and “nurse-first” philosophy.

The Nurse Cohort Manager oversees a cohort of virtual nurses across multiple partner types, monitors performance metrics and KPIs, and serves as a key advocate for the nursing workforce while ensuring exceptional care delivery and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Patient Care Accountability

  • Maintain ultimate accountability for the quality, safety, and consistency of patient care delivered by the nurse cohort

  • Ensure nursing care aligns with PocketRN clinical standards, workflows, and regulatory requirements

  • Monitor clinical KPIs and documentation quality, providing coaching and corrective action when needed

  • Support nurses in clinical decision-making and escalate patient care concerns appropriately

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Lead with a “nurse-first” mindset and actively foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and collaboration

  • Serve as a visible example of PocketRN’s Vision, Mission, and Values

  • Champion change initiatives and promote a culture of continuous improvement

  • Create a psychologically safe, supportive environment where nurses feel heard, valued, and empowered

Staff Management, Time & Attendance

  • Supervise and manage a team of remote/virtual nurses across multiple partner organizations

  • Oversee timekeeping, attendance, scheduling adherence, and PTO requests

  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet patient care needs

  • Address attendance, performance, and conduct issues in a timely, fair, and consistent manner

Performance Management & Development

  • Provide frequent, constructive feedback on nurse performance and documentation

  • Conduct performance evaluations and support professional growth plans

  • Partner with training specialists to deliver ongoing education and development opportunities

  • Assist with onboarding, mentoring, and integration of new nurses

  • Collect, manage, and act on nurse feedback throughout the employee lifecycle at PocketRN

Advocacy & Operational Partnership

  • Advocate for nurses by surfacing insights and feedback related to clinical resources, workflows, technology, product experience, patient experience, and nurse experience

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve care delivery operations and nurse satisfaction

  • Serve as a liaison between the nursing workforce and leadership

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of nursing leadership experience

  • Licensure: Current, active RN license; multistate license required with additional single-state licenses as needed

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a management or operations role

  • Strong understanding of how PocketRN fits strategically within the broader healthcare continuum

  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong critical-thinking skills

  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats and thriving in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment

  • Excellent communication, coaching, and organizational skills
