Description of Work

The Regional Child Health Nurse Consultant serves as the primary resource person for local health departments and other child service agencies in this region for the assessment of child health needs and for the development, implementation, and evaluation of child health clinical services, Care Management for At-Risk Children (CMARC) care management, and other health services related activities to meet these needs.

As staff of the Whole Child Health Section, this consultant’s responsibilities include:
– Program planning and development

– Program implementation and quality assurance

– Consultation

– Coordination and collaboration

– Training and resources development.

This position will cover counties in the central portion of the state.

This position is remote but will require travel for onsite visits, meetings and may require occasional overnight travel.

The Regional Child Health Nurse Consultant position serves as part of the Child Health Nurse Consultant Team within the School, Adolescent, and Child Health Unit, providing a broad array of health-related services in the region.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade Range: $66,696.00 – $110,049.00

Recruitment Range: $64,211.00 – $84,669.00

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Working knowledge of public health nursing and child health clinical practice.

  • Proven experience in assessing educational and training needs related to child health clinical practice or care management services.

  • Experienced in providing child health clinical services and/or care management services.

  • Demonstrated experience providing solutions and recommendations to clinical or care management issues related to child health services at a local and/or statewide level.

  • Experienced in researching, developing, and implementing policies and programs based on best practice standards related to child health and/or care management services.

Management Preferences

  • Working knowledge of electronic health records and health information technology.

  • Knowledge and ability to use current internet, electronic systems, software, and internet meeting platforms.

  • Experience with community assessment, program planning, and evaluation.

  • Experience with state and local government and healthcare issues affecting care management services.

  • Clinical experience in public health nursing in maternal-child health, community health, pediatrics, obstetrics, or mental health; Experience in teaching, consulting or mentoring nurses and program development.
