Position Summary
The Curriculum, Clinical, and Advising Associate reports to the VP of Adult and Graduate Studies/Pampell Online Division at Houston Christian University. This position will support the Dunham School of Nursing Graduate Department Chair in ensuring curricular accreditation readiness, including the availability of suitable clinical site placement settings tailored to the program’s needs. Additionally, the Associate will provide academic advising and guidance to students to promote educational and clinical success.
Job Responsibilities
- Support HCU faculty and online team for curricular accreditation to ensure the accuracy and readiness of semester course offerings
- Provide a pre-semester review and readiness preparation for all online didactic and didactic/clinical courses before each semester
- Ensure accuracy of simple syllabus, course, and clinical outcomes with alignment to topical outline – all online courses student preview each semester
- Check for broken links or expired scholarly web resources and make recommendations for replacements to DSON faculty – all online courses, each semester
- Collaborate on student communication regarding new or updated policies or procedures including, but not limited to, coursework and clinical sites
- Search for scholarly nursing sources and make recommendations for improving online learning relevant to the nursing profession
- Ensure clinical site placements align with didactic course outcomes as required by program accreditation standards
- Participate in DSON faculty, curriculum, and online nursing committees
- Provide data collection and support to maintain accreditation, including annual reporting data, mid-cycle reporting, and is available for site visits for approval and accrediting bodies (i.e. CCNE, TBON, SACSCOC, etc.).
- Aid in clinical planning, compliance, and communication with students and stakeholders
- Serve as clinical nursing resource to Graduate Nursing Success and Insight Analyst
- Support Department Chair with development and implementation of policy for clinical placement process as outlined in CCNE standards, including the coordination of outside vendor assistance
- Support the Department Chair in vetting appropriate specialty-focused sites as required by CCNE
- Provide answers to student questions about curricular clinical requirements for programs to include specialty-focused placements as required by CCNE
- Provide backup to Graduate Nursing Success and Insight Analyst on student inquiries when inbox is more than 24 hours in arrears
- Participate with the DSON Clinical Advisory Board
- Support student engagement in academic and clinical success
- Aid in student academic, clinical, spiritual, and social support for student engagement, persistence, and retention
- Provide academic advising to RN-BSN-MSN program students from enrollment through completion of the BSN curriculum, offering guidance and support on individual academic pathways for successful entrance into the MSN program.
- Assist with student onboarding process and virtual touchpoints to support MSN programs as needed
- Perform any related duties as directed by the DSON Dean, Graduate Department Chair
Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Texas nursing license, RN (MSN or terminal nursing degree)
- Personable, professional demeanor
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and able to master other computer systems and applications relevant to HCU operations and clinical placements
- Able to supplement BSN online course teaching in adjunct faculty role
