Job Description

Position Summary

This position collects extensive data on all new cancer patients seen at ECU Health Hospitals, as required by state law and according to regulations established by various state and national registries. Case abstracting and registry duties are completed in adherence to the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Standards for Accredited Cancer Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Produce case abstracts for cancer patients and extract data items from the various medical records in accordance with ACoS/CoC standards.
  • Perform necessary research, analysis, interpretation and decision-making to accurately code stage or sequence information.
  • Follow-up on each case abstracted for the life of the patient.
  • Extracts the required information from the electronic medical record and external sources.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates or higher in a health related field or completion of an NCRA cancer registry program is required.
  • CTR (Certified Tumor Registrar) is preferred.
  • 1 – 3 years experience required in casefinding, abstracting, completing treatment updates, and follow up. Also, Electronic Medical record usage experience is required.

  • Remote role (based out of Greenville, NC)
  • Monday – Friday day shift:
    • 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
