Education Requirement: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or higher

Experience Required: Minimum 2 years teaching experience in nursing education

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop

high-quality assessment items across a variety of nursing content areas. The SME will contribute

to the creation of evidence-based, level-appropriate, and standards-aligned assessments to

support learner success in nursing programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Author original assessment items (e.g., multiple choice, select-all-that-apply, and

application-based questions) in alignment with assigned topics.

  • Create clear and concise rationales for answer choices.
  • Assign appropriate metadata to authored items.
  • Ensure all items reflect current clinical guidelines, nursing best practices, and academic

integrity standards.

  • Collaborate with instructional designers and academic leads to align items with the

appropriate cognitive level and educational standards (e.g., Bloom’s Taxonomy, NCLEX-

  • Participate in quality assurance reviews and make revisions based on feedback.
  • Maintain consistency with item-writing conventions and accessibility standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (MSN) or higher in nursing; doctoral preparation preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching nursing content at the undergraduate level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of nursing (e.g., medical-surgical,

pharmacology, community health, leadership, pathophysiology).

  • Prior experience writing NCLEX-style or high-stakes licensure exam questions.
  • Familiarity with the NCLEX-RN test plan, AACN Essentials, and nursing competencies

frameworks.

  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.
