A virtual nurse enhances patient care by completing admissions, discharges, and patient education through remote technology. They conduct thorough assessments, provide clear and compassionate explanations, and ensure patients understand their care plans. By managing key clinical and educational tasks, the virtual nurse supports smoother workflows, reduces clinical workload at the bedside, and improves patient preparedness and satisfaction. As the model expands, virtual nurses will increasingly contribute to care coordination, documentation accuracy, and quality initiatives—strengthening the overall safety, efficiency, and experience of care.

General Summary
Provides virtual nursing care to a diverse population of patients by using remote monitoring technology software and related electronic health record. Works in partnership with the Clinical Nurse and in accordance with the principles of patient and family-centered care based on the nursing process and according to the clinical standards of the hospital. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Coaches and mentors novice nurses.
