Purpose of Job:
To provide comprehensive health services to students and staff statewide.
Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities:

Annually creates and maintains up to date individual Health Care Plans (HCP).
Oversees and ensures immunization compliance.
Oversees and coordinates hearing and vision screening compliance as mandated by the Colorado Department of Education.
Manages the outbreak and controls the spread of communicable diseases in the school environment.
Assists in the development and annual review of health-related Section 504 Plans for students.
Provides training to staff on health-related issues.
Provides training on medication administration / nursing tasks.
Annually reviews health intake information and identifies students who need an HCP.
Delegates nursing tasks and medication administration as indicated for students with HCPs.
Pursues continuous professional growth.
Follows district personnel policies and procedures.
Maintains and submits accurate and complete records as determined by administration.
Assumes responsibilities for assigned duties and attending required meetings at designated times.
Demonstrates willingness to make contributions beyond the scope of the job when appropriate and necessary.
Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with students, parents, and community.
Communicates confidentially and effectively with students, parents, and staff about student health issues.
Exhibits good communication and collaboration with staff, administration, and colleagues.
Coordinates student Individual Education Program (IEP) services, writes health assessments and accommodations for Initial and reevaluation IEPs.
Participates in IEP meetings for students with academically significant health concerns.
Oversees the annual calibration of audiometers.
Submits a budget for health-related items annually and as needed.
Maintains and updates the health web page with school health policies.
Updates individual HCPs.
Works with administration to maintain best practice guidelines for school health.
Provides delegation and support for the GOAL Venture trips.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must reside in Colorado
Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing plus additional coursework required for certification or licensure.
Possess a valid Colorado Registered Nursing License or authorization or be actively in the process of securing the same.
Possess a Special Services License through Colorado Department of Education or possess a Temporary Special Services License through Colorado Department of Education
Experience:
Previous experience as a school nurse required.
Previous experience in an online school preferred.
