The Senior Clinical Informaticist serves as a critical link between the informatics department and clinical and business partners; they are both a liaison and an advocate. The Senior CI provides expertise and support by translating clinical content into clinical applications. The Sr CI is responsible for high-level project analysis and implementation, providing technical mentorship to clinical analysts and informaticists. They provide technical oversight and experience as an experienced, certified EHR informaticist. As a clinical content builder, they are responsible for design, build, testing and training for clinical applications implementations, optimizations, and maintenance

Responsibilities:

  • Senior Clinical Informaticist serves as a liaison between clinical/business partners and the informatics department. Is a role model and resource for EHR analysts
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of EHR applications and third-party systems, can articulate functionality and proactively shares knowledge with customers, team members and vendors alike
  • Leads and participates in the design, build, and testing of clinical application components; offers technical expertise and mentorship to informatics department and EHR analysts
  • Leads and participates in the optimization of clinical workflow processes; identifies and recommends improvement opportunities and necessary process changes. Collaborates to develop workflow optimizations and implementations of new solutions or functionality
  • Participates and at times leads various task forces related to EHR applications
  • Leads team in preparation for clinical systems upgrade/change; including release note review, user acceptance testing and communication to prepare staff/users for the upgrade/change
  • Develops system
  • Gathers and produces project requirements, performs high level project analysis, translates, and produces functional specifications
  • Follows innovation PMO practices to lead medium to large scale projects supporting informatics road map initiatives
  • Utilizes advanced EHR knowledge and experience, in partnership with department leadership, to drive and execute strategic initiatives in compliance with vendor agreement
  • Tracks lessons learned for review, analysis, and change management
  • Coordinates and provides responsive and proactive solution management and issue resolution
  • Coordinates system parameters and project designs with Internal department leaders, Clinical Directors, Operational leaders, project teams and/or vendors
  • Supports the creation and maintenance of job aids, workflow documents, videos and other materials utilized to train and support users
  • Manages resources effectively to achieve identified project objectives and expected outcomes
  • Promote system security, patient confidentiality, and help ensure compliance in accordance with TrueCare policy
  • Stays current on health information technology, informatics, and federal/state regulations impacting electronic health records
  • Tracks lessons learned for analysis and review and communicates them so that the department can experience continuous process improvement
  • Support to Clinicians and Operations Clinical Applications 20. OCHIN designated – EHR Analyst test plans and oversees integrated testing efforts. Facilitates user acceptance tests of clinical application components

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science or related field
  • EPIC Certification
  • Six to Eight (6-8) years of healthcare experience directly supporting an EHR application as an analyst/informaticist
  • Direct experience as an analyst/informaticist supporting an EHR Implementation and/or EHR version upgrade
  • Understanding of healthcare delivery workflows and processes
  • Understanding of fundamental project management methodology and demonstrated ability to serve as lead for an implementation or project
  • Knowledge of different learning styles, effective teaching methodologies and tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-conferencing systems
  • Understanding of HIPAA Privacy
  • Knowledge of the different methods available to facilitate learning transfer
  • Knowledge of information systems, including office automation and data analysis tools such as MS Office, simulation software, Visio, etc

Nice to Have:

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare, Healthcare Informatics, or related field
  • Healthcare licensure (RN, LVN, RT)
  • Three to Five (3-5) years of healthcare experience working in a direct patient care area
  • Current California Registered Nurse License (preferred)
  • Current California Respiratory Therapist License (preferred)
  • Project Management Experience
  • Valid California Driver’s License, proof of auto liability insurance and clean driving record

The pay range for this role is $102,000 – $158,000 on an annual basis.

Position Summary

Applies specialized clinical and industry knowledge and performance improvement best practices to quality improvement efforts. Analyzes workflow and organizational performance to ensure continuous alignment with regulatory and accreditation standards. Oversees and ensures the implementation, measurement and evaluation of workplans. Additional responsibilities to include but not limited to the following:

  • Develops and implements quality improvement programs and initiatives to monitor and improve healthcare services and processes. Quantitatively and qualitatively analyzes organizational systems and performance in alignment with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Drives and implements evidence-based performance improvement interventions that address areas for improvement, reduce variations in care, and enhance clinical effectiveness. Establishes, tracks and monitors process and outcome measures. Prepares organizational documents and effectiveness reporting in compliance with requirements.
  • Manages and coordinates accreditation-specific workplans. Facilitates relevant workgroups and committees as required to ensure stakeholder awareness and participation to achieve continuous survey readiness.
  • Contributes to enhancing healthcare services, improving patient outcomes, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Contributes to the development, revision, and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines that focus on improving clinical quality and ensuring patient safety.
  • Stays up-to-date on healthcare innovations, quality studies and evidence-based practices by participating in research efforts, contributing to scholarly publications, and/or facilitating research utilization to improve clinical care and outcomes.
  • Provides training and education to healthcare professionals, staff, and stakeholders on quality assurance, patient safety, and compliance-related topics.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards by conducting regular reviews, assessments, and audits to identify and address areas of non-compliance.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, such as legal, clinical operations, and regulatory affairs, to ensure policies are up-to-date, aligned with industry best practices, and reflect regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years experience
  • In depth knowledge of health plan accreditation standards and initiatives aimed to drive compliance
  • Working knowledge of clinical and practice requirements essential to meet patient care needs.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with customers and community.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly.
  • Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate option.
  • Ability to function in clinical setting with diverse cultural dynamics of clinical staff and patients.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in healthcare related field
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of problem solving and decision making skills.

The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is

$66,575.00 – $142,576.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
