Job Overview
Impact Advisors is seeking a dynamic and motivated Inpatient Clinical Documentation Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in helping our clients achieve a best-practice clinical documentation program while driving revenue improvement and reimbursement accuracy. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to client success while making a meaningful impact on the healthcare industry.
Responsibilities
- Perform concurrent, retrospective, and second level reviews of inpatient records in Solventum (3M) and Epic
- Identify documentation gaps impacting MS-DRG reimbursement, quality, severity, and coding accuracy
- Identify inaccurate CC/MCC documentation gaps and articulate root causes
- Validate diagnoses, procedures, and clinical indicators against documentation
- Advise client on best-practice use of Solventum workflows including queries, case prioritization strategies, productivity reporting, query impact reporting, and query completeness / effectiveness
- Assist in validating query compliance and provider communication methods for inpatient CDI specialist teams and inpatient coding teams
- Assist in developing new compliant query language and query templates
- Support targeted provider education on high‑impact diagnoses
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience: 5+ years
- Certifications / Licenses (preferred not required):
- CCDS, CCDS‑O, or CDIP Certification
- Familiarity with CDI productivity and quality reporting.
- Familiarity with Epic Inpatient CDI and Coding Modules
Skills and Competencies
- Strong clinical judgment
- Clear written communication
- Provider‑focused collaboration
- High attention to detail
- Strong knowledge of CMS Base DRG and MS-DRG diagnosis framework
- Comfort working independently in a part‑time capacity
- Comfort working remotely and in a hybrid setting for client-facing work
Additional Information
- Travel: No travel required. Opportunity to travel onsite for key meetings if available.
- Work Schedule:
- 15-20 hours per week for 6-months
- Weekly hours may vary depending on client requirements and project needs
- Impact Advisors will do their best to accommodate scheduling conflicts for part-time contractor roles
- Billable hourly expectations will be reviewed weekly with the Impact Advisors Project Manager and we will partner to proactively confirm hourly expectations
At Impact Advisors, we are committed to transparency and equity in our compensation practices. The compensation for this role includes an hourly pay rate of $85 – $100. Additional benefits and perks may also be available, depending on the position and employment terms.
