What companies offer IVF coverage to nurses?

As soon as I shared this reel on Instagram, my inbox was flooded with messages from nurses wanting to know more about this topic. Many were shocked to learn that there are actually companies that offer this benefit to their nurses.

I think most nurses are now more aware that some of the larger insurance companies, like Sedgwick and Centene, include infertility coverage in their insurance benefits. However, outside of those types of companies, nurses are sometimes seeking jobs at non-clinical companies to get IVF coverage or working travel nurse contracts to cover the expensive fertility treatment procedures. 

These are the companies that offer IVF benefits for those in the nursing field. Although Remote Nurse Connection is primarily a resource for remote nurses, we have included companies and hospitals that offer these benefits to remote, hybrid, traveling, or in-person nursing roles. While it’s not the norm for this kind of benefit to be offered by hospitals or travel nurse companies, there are some that do!

Every company listed here will have different coverage inclusions and limitations per their company coverage policies. Since the coverage amount and inclusions can change every benefit year, it’s best to ask for specifics from a recruiter when interviewing with the company.  Some companies are very open about their benefits package, and some may only give a high-level overview and wait to share more specific details once a job offer has been made. 

While some states have laws in place for coverage, there are many states across the US that offer nothing. The average cost of one IVF cycle in the US is around $23,000, according to FertilityIQ. Even with some fertility clinics committed to lowering the cost of IVF, it still seems like a no-brainer for a nurse to seek out a new job that offers insurance coverage for this!  

I’ve also found that the majority of companies that offer IVF coverage will also offer paid maternity or parental leave.  Double win if neither of these benefits is being offered at your current nursing job!  For nurses trying to start a family, these are huge incentives for nurses to leave the bedside for a company that supports this life change.

A quick Google search brings up lots of articles with lists of companies that offer fertility coverage to their employees, but it can be challenging to narrow in on which companies specifically hire nurses to work remotely or which hospitals offer this benefit, which is why I decided to research and share about this topic for World Infertility Awareness Month.  

Don’t overlook this additional great resource that has a comprehensive list of companies offering fertility coverage benefits. Your partner or spouse might find a new company to work at, too!

Nurses Helping Nurses: Share Your IVF Benefits Here

Since the list of companies and hospitals that offer IVF benefits is often changing, another strategy for finding these companies is to research which states have coverage mandates and then look for companies or hospitals in those states that hire remote nurses. Remember, most of the same jobs open for remote nurses at insurance companies are also available at hospitals (hybrid or remote).

FertilityIQ is also another great resource that collects information from its audience each year to compile a comprehensive list of companies that offer family-building services. The list generally includes what services they cover (e.g., IUI, IVF, egg freezing, adoption). Companies are starting to catch on that offering fertility coverage can actually help increase employee retention rates.
